Some efferent connections of the superficial pretectum in the goldfish.

چکیده
The diencephalic nuclei known as the lateral geniculate and rotundus in goldfish appear to belong to the pretectal region. They do not project to the telencephalon. A combination of degeneration and horseradish tract-tracing experiments show that that the latter nucleus projects caudally to the so-called mammillary body and to a precerebellar cell group-nucleus lateralis valvulae.

Influence of salinity acclimatization on energy, oxygen consumption rate and glucose levels for Carassius auratus (Goldfish)
This study aimed to investigate the influence of increasing salinity concentrations on some indicators of energy consumption such as dissolved oxygen consumption, the consumed energy, as well as the levels of blood glucose in Carassius auratus (Goldfish), because of their direct relation with the metabolism rates when fish are exposed to exertion. Fish with an average weight of 37.5+2.5 g were ...
متن کاملEffects of zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) in diet on the growth performance and gene expression of Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and Ghrelin in goldfish (Carassius auratus)
The zinc element (Zn) is one of the micronutrients and an essential element of the body which has some deleterious and irreparable effects on growth in case of lack it. Thus, we aimed to assess IGF-1 in goldfish with Zn deficiency and to investigate the effect of Zn supplementation on these parameters. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) juvenile (3.5 g) were fed purified diets based on casein as ...
متن کاملEffect of Protein Malnutrition on Efferent Projections of Amygdala to the Hippocampus
ABSTRACTIntroduction: Previous investigations have shown that protein malnutrition can alters the structure and function of some areas of hippocampal formation. We investigated the effect of protein malnutrition on amygdaloid projections to the CA1 hippocampal area. In this study we investigated level and pattern of distribution of efferent projections from amygdala to hippocampus in the rat by...
متن کاملSubcortical connections of area V4 in the macaque
Area V4 has numerous, topographically organized connections with multiple cortical areas, some of which are important for spatially organized visual processing, and others which seem important for spatial attention. Although the topographic organization of V4's connections with other cortical areas has been established, the detailed topography of its connections with subcortical areas is unclea...
متن کاملA double-label study of efferent projections from the Edinger-Westphal nucleus in goldfish and kelp bass.
The Edinger-Westphal nucleus in goldfish was identified by retrograde labeling from the ciliary ganglion. In the same animals a few neurons near this nucleus (perinuclear Edinger-Westphal neurons) were labeled by a different retrograde tracer injected into the cerebellum. No double-labeled cells were found. Similar results were obtained in kelp bass, except that in this species no cerebellar-pr...
